( a Registered Charity in England and Wales, No. 802048) A One-Name Study is a project researching all occurrences of a surname as opposed to a particular pedigree (ancestors of one person) or decadency (descendants of one person or couple). Some one-namers may restrict their research geographically, to perhaps one country, but purists collect all occurrences on a worldwide basis. A One-Name Study may concentrate on aspects such as geographical distribution of the name and the changes in that distribution over the centuries, or may attempt to reconstruct the genealogy of as many lines as possible bearing the name. A frequent aim is to identify a single original location of the name, especially if it appears to derive from a place name. But for many names, for example those indicating an occupation like Butcher, or a patronymic-type surname such as Peterson, there will not be a single origin."
In October of 1999 the TREVERTON surname was registered with the GUILD OF ONE-NAME STUDIES in London, England. As the current registrar I have assumed the arduous but enjoyable task of researching and documenting all occurrences of the Treverton surname on a worldwide basis. This includes, but is not limited to; births, deaths, marriages, events, place names, publications, etc. I also attempt to reconstruct the family lineage of as many TREVERTON related family trees as possible. This includes Treverton females marrying out of the family line and non-Treverton females marrying into the line.
I actively seek out and collect all things Treverton - name references, photographs, drawings, paintings, documents, signatures, family stories, book references (fiction or non fiction), place names, memorabilia, etc. All things referencing the TREVERTON surname. Larry Treverton
